Terms of use
Plain terms for Station Master Live
Last updated 23 October 2026.
About these terms
These terms are the agreement between you and us, the people who run Station Master Live, whenever you use this website, create an account, subscribe, stream, watch or chat. By doing any of those you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Station Master Live.
How we handle your personal details is set out in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
Who we are
Station Master Live is an online service for streaming live video, made for amateur radio operators. The full legal details of the business that provides it will be published on this page. Until then, you can reach us as described under Questions and contact.
Who can use Station Master Live
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you need the permission of a parent or guardian, and a subscription must be bought by an adult. You must give us true details and keep them up to date.
Your account
An account is for your amateur radio callsign, and for up to two more callsigns you hold or are authorised to operate: a club or special event station, or a /P or /M profile. Each gets its own player code and watch page; your stream goes to one of them at a time. They must be your own callsigns, or ones you have permission to operate. Never add another person's callsign to give them streaming through your account: that is against these terms, and we close accounts that do it. Your main callsign can change once a month. Keep your sign-in details and your stream key to yourself. You are responsible for what is done with your account.
If you think someone else has your password or stream key, change it straight away from your dashboard and let us know.
Subscriptions and payment
Streaming needs a subscription. A free account can set everything up, paste the player code into a QRZ.com page and test it, but cannot stream until a plan is chosen. Each plan, its price and what it includes are shown before you pay. Payments are taken by our payment provider, Stripe; we never see or store your full card details.
- Where a plan starts with a first week at a one-off price, your chosen plan begins when that week ends, unless you cancel before then.
- Subscriptions renew automatically, monthly or yearly as you chose, and the card on file is charged at each renewal until you cancel.
- You can cancel at any time from your dashboard. Your plan then runs to the end of the period already paid for and is not renewed. Until that date you can change your mind and keep it.
- Prices include any tax we are required to charge, unless we say otherwise when you buy.
- We may change our prices. A new price applies from your next renewal after we have told you about it, and you can cancel before then if you do not want to continue.
- If a payment fails, streaming may stop until it is put right.
Refunds and your right to cancel
If you live in the UK or the European Union, you have a legal right to cancel a new subscription within 14 days of buying it. Because the service starts as soon as you subscribe, if you cancel within those 14 days we may keep a fair amount for the time you have already had.
Otherwise, payments are not refunded for part of a period, except where these terms say so or where the law gives you a right to one. Nothing in these terms takes away your legal rights as a consumer.
Streaming
Stream only what you have the right to show and hear, and nothing unlawful. Streams are live only: we do not record them.
A plan's streaming hours count the time each of your streams is live. Streaming in two formats at once - horizontal and vertical - is two streams, wherever they come from: an hour of both counts as two hours. Sending your stream on to other platforms counts nothing extra; their own terms apply there.
Once you go live, your stream is public: anyone with the link or your player code can watch it, and it may be listed on our home page among the stations live now and recently live. You can take your station off those lists from your dashboard.
Your content
What you stream, and what you write in chat, stays yours. So that we can run the service, you give us permission to carry it, show it to your viewers wherever your player appears, relay it between our servers (in the United Kingdom, the United States and Australia), send it on to the platforms you choose, and make still pictures from it for your player and our listings, for as long as it is live and as these terms describe.
You are responsible for your stream. Make sure you have permission for any music, video or other material in it, and respect the privacy of anyone who can be seen or heard.
What is not allowed
You must not use Station Master Live to stream, post or share anything that:
- is unlawful, or encourages anything unlawful;
- is sexually explicit, violent or hateful, or harasses, threatens or bullies anyone;
- infringes anyone's copyright, trade marks or other rights;
- shares someone else's personal details without their permission;
- is spam, a scam or misleading advertising;
- passes you off as someone else, or as us.
You must also not try to get into accounts or systems that are not yours, interfere with or overload the service, get round its limits, copy or harvest its content or data by automated means, or sell or share access to your account.
Fair use
Station Master Live is made for amateur radio operators who go live from the shack, the park or the summit: typically a few times a week, for an hour or two at a time, with a few dozen viewers at most. Our plans are priced for that.
Unlimited means you never count your hours. It is not an invitation to leave a stream running around the clock, or to broadcast to hundreds of viewers at a time. Every viewer costs us bandwidth, and streams far beyond normal use would be paid for by everyone else. If that is what you need, a general video platform such as YouTube is the better home for it.
We watch how much each account uses. If yours goes well beyond normal use, we will get in touch first where we can. We may then limit how many people can watch at once, lower the picture quality of your stream, limit your streaming time, or end your subscription, refunding any part of it already paid for and not yet used.
Live chat
Chat is open to anyone with an account while a stream is live. Be civil: no abuse, harassment, threats, hate, spam or personal details that are not yours to share. A broadcaster may remove messages and block people from their chat. We may remove messages and close accounts that break these terms. Messages are kept as a record of the stream after it ends, for dealing with abuse and for improving the service; they are not shown on the page once the stream is over.
Reporting a problem
If you see a stream or message that breaks these terms, or that you believe infringes your rights, please tell us, with the callsign, the time and what is wrong. We look at every report and act where we need to, which can include removing content, ending a stream or closing an account.
Your details
We keep your callsign, name and email address to run your account, and your subscription details with our payment provider, Stripe. We send email about your account and the codes you ask for. If you opt in, we also send promo codes, offers and news, including deals from our radio partners and retailers: one email a week at most, and you can switch this off at any time on your dashboard. We do not sell your details. The full picture is in our privacy policy.
Other services
Station Master Live works alongside services we do not run, such as QRZ.com, where your player appears, and the platforms you choose to send your stream on to. Their own terms apply when you use them, and we are not responsible for them. Station Master Live is an independent service: it is not run by, endorsed by or affiliated with QRZ.com.
Our service and our software
The Station Master Live name, logo, website, player and software belong to us or our licensors. You may use them only to use the service as these terms allow, and must not copy, change or take them apart except where the law allows it.
The service
We do our best to keep Station Master Live running, but it is provided as it is, and we cannot promise it will never be unavailable. We may change or end features. If you break these terms we may suspend or close your account. Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time from your dashboard and run to the end of the period already paid for.
If we stop providing Station Master Live altogether, we will tell you in advance where we can and refund any part of your subscription already paid for and not yet used.
Ending your account
You can stop using Station Master Live at any time. To have your account closed and your details deleted, ask us as described under Questions and contact.
We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if we have to by law, or if we stop providing the service. Where the reason allows, we will tell you first and give you the chance to put things right.
Our responsibility to you
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to take reasonable care. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, for loss caused by things outside our reasonable control, or for business losses such as lost profit or lost opportunities.
Apart from the cases below, our total responsibility to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the problem arose. Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Station Master Live changes. The date at the top says when they last changed. If a change matters to you, we will tell you by email or on your dashboard before it takes effect. If you do not agree to a change, you can cancel before it applies.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes may be brought in the courts of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK or in the European Union, you also keep the protection of your own country's consumer law and may bring a claim in your own courts.
